In organizations where a new concept or new initiative has to be implemented, a concept of leading change management is often discussed. During the change management often the term “Paradigm shift” is thrown around. The other day we were discussing the topic of paradigm shifting, examples were quoted how smart phones changed the paradigm, once Nokia was the biggest player in the market, and then how the smart touch phones, iphone, samsung galaxy etc came into the market and nearly drove the previous market giant back into the dark woods. Anyhow, this is a good paradigm shift.
But I think another example that we can all relate to is how we measure our “business” these days. There was a time when people used to say I’m too busy to exercise, to play sports, even to watch tv, too busy to “go hang out with friends!” But the other day a friend of mine told me in a sad voice, “I am so busy these days, I can’t even find the time to log once into facebook!”. There you have it, facebook is the perfect example of paradigm shift, not to mention a perfect example of a start-up business. There were other social network before facebook too, like Orkut, but the popularity gained by facebook is unmatched and it has no doubt become a very important part of our social lifestyle. Today whether we were able to sign in on facebook or not, and the time we spent on facebook really determines how busy we are, it is the criteria of our Business. As facebook means Going out, without having to go out! If we can’t spend time with our friends on facebook today, we are “really” very busy!
The purpose is to remind us all, that no matter how busy we are, what ever little time we can find, try to get out of your homes and spend some quality time hanging out with family and friends ! This is one paradigm that should never shift!
On that note, we would like to invite you to join us on our facebook page also, https://www.facebook.com/Sneakpeek2013 🙂
I took this picture near my village last year. I wonder how so many bees can live and work in peace in such a small space yet mankind cannot live in harmony even in such a huge world. Who’s more civilized here, us or them? That’s the way of nature, to live in peace. But we never learn, and that’s why we always suffer and will continue to suffer until we change our mindset drastically, and respect the basic human rights and accept others regardless of race, language, religion or economical status.
Let’s lighten the mood here ! 🙂
There’s also a second lesson, which mankind HAS LEARNT from the beehives. Have you ever wondered why this Bee Hives are made in this particular shape and not like the nests of other birds? The shape of this beehive is a Honey Comb structure. This structure allows the optimization of construction material, in this case wax. So the bees are able to build a colony for themselves utilizing the minimum resources.
Man has also been inspired from the Honey Comb structure and that’s why its use has been known since 60 BC.
Honeycomb materials are widely used where flat or slightly curved surfaces are needed and their high strength-to-weight-ratio is valuable. They are widely used in the aerospace industry for this reason, and honeycomb materials in aluminum, fibreglass and advanced composite materials have been featured in aircraft and rockets since the 1950s. They can also be found in many other fields, from packaging materials in the form of paper-based honeycomb cardboard, to sporting goods like skis and snowboards.
Do you believe there is still room for mankind to learn from other species, even if they are seemingly insignificant such as small bees? 🙂
Shoes are an important part of one’s personality, one that can often reveal your true style. I say true style, as often people pay attention to clothes, hats, ties, jackets but ignore the shoes !
You must have seen a thousand different kinds of shoes in your life, sneekers, joggers, fleets, dress shoes, high heels, medium heels, low heels, cold shoes, leather shoes, sandals, chappals and what not, but how often have you come across these shoes? These are very often used in Pakistan in important events, such as Weddings, but are used in other important events too.
This is the picture of a cotton flower (Or “Kapaas” as we say it in Pakistan) that I took during visit to my village. The cotton is planted in May, and is fully developed in six months time. This crop requires special care, it has to be given fertilizers, pesticides, water once a week, favorable in dry season. Since this has to be hand plucked by farmers, one by one from so many cotton flowers, the harvesting takes around two months. It is then sent to the factories for processing, dying, finishing & stitching. So whether it’s a handkerchief or a stylish formal dress shirt, so much effort is put into manufacturing cotton.
Pakistan has been one of the finest producers of cotton clothing, producing 100% pure cotton. For your information, adding even 1% silk to cotton may double the quantity of the cloth produced, but still to maintain quality, Pakistan’s textile industries like Burewala Textile mills produced 100% cotton, because they did not want to compromise on quality, as this cloth was exported to other countries.
Pakistan is world’s 4th largest cotton producing country, in 2011, it produced 10.3 Million bales of cotton. China being the largest, produced 33 Million Bales. (One bale is 480 pounds or 218 Kilograms).

I took this picture in my village, can you guess which crop this is?
Hint: Watching movies just isn’t the same without it. In 2012, 3 Million Metric Tons of this crop were produced in Pakistan!
I travel 2 hours daily, one hour in the morning from my place to my factory & one hour back off course. I usually always deliberately sit on the isle seat or the seat beside the window. Why is that important? I think it describes how one is not interested enjoying the view from the front seat, the thrill of fast & furious turns & sudden brakes of the bus (Yes, our driver can be a lunatic at times!), witnessing the sights of so many people out there in the streets from the huge windscreen of the bus. Rather, this shows how one would prefer to either sit in the middle, avoid the sights & simply sleep or chat with your colleagues, peeking once or twice from the side window.
But after I recently started blogging, I had this desire to not only “see”, but to “observe”. The urge to scout for some special moment, the sudden interest to preserve those moments with a click and to show to my fellow bloggers. That’s why now I sit in the front seat, and I am happy with it ! My sixty minutes of travel now seem like thirty and I feel more fresh. This is one of the many effects writing & sharing can have on you. Good to know, good to share !

“Am I allowed to dream….?” One day, when eyes dares to ask.
“No!” ordered the Mind.
The heart contracted and expanded swiftly…
“Why?” heart argued.
The heart had all the means to ask the question, but the mind was not obliged to answer.
Why, Why, Why!
Heart bumped his head for a long time when he got the silent sympathetic answer.
“Because I don’t want you to suffer!” mind whispered.
“So am I not suffering now?”
“You are a cruel person. You don’t know the meaning of emotion. You can never understand the dreamland woven by the eyes can be accomplished by the power of you and me…Why don’t you realize?” , Heart shouted in dismay.
“I understand but don’t you know that not all the dreams are fulfilled? And what a disaster breaks off when the dreams are shattered?
And don’t you know the bigger the dream shattered, the bigger the disaster is??
The more devastated the body is…?
The more vacant the eyes are..?”
(Eyes had started damping their lashes throughout the cross argument)
“Why are you becoming the enemy of yourself?”
Why are doing the things, reason less! Without any logic! Crazy? Isn’t it?”,Mind scolded.
The Master,The Mind was like handling the dais, eager to convince the Heart with all the tools and weapons of logical speech skills.
“Would you like to give me a single logical reason?”
“LAME EXCUSES!” Heart was now furious at his insult.
“O you chicken! Why don’t you shortly say that you are a coward…? You are frightened that’s only the matter! Frightened of the approach of the dreams…You simply, have not the capabilities to face the failures!”
“Hey! You are blaming me now. Its you…who will be disappointed at the failures…Not me!
Its you…who will do care for all the feelings…who will take calamities to injure your health!
Who is not able to face realities!
Who is escaped of the bitterness of the present tense! Escaped into the imaginary future.
It’s you…and not me, my sweets!” Mind claimed.
Heart was speechless for a moment but eyes were still pouring the pearls out of its premises…
“This is a real world, and a real human have to live in it ‘real’ and not “imaginary’…Look through the eyes…how disgusting is the world…Entirely unmatched with your demands!”, Mind bragged.
Eyes raised their brows and looked around. Mind was right. He was a sympathetic father now.
But eyes, like non-obedient children, were not going to lose the battle, anyways..!
“But you should remember that the eyes, who dare to dream, are the eyes that are bound to succeed” Heart gave its final shot.
Eye balls rolled themselves.
“All right!” The Mind gave up. “Do as your heart desired…but remember! At your own risk! As I know, you people are the slaves of dreams and desire of heart! You could never come to the track”
Eyes magined standing in the Mind’s shoes, and she sensed that the brain in right. So, the kind heart sacrificed his never ending dreams, for the sake of the tears of eyes…
And from that day on wards , the stony eyes never dared to dream again!
